Safety shoes, protective footwear and work shoes may only be brought onto the market in the European Union if they have previously been subjected to a type examination in a notified testing laboratory. This test shall take place in accordance with the standards DIN EN ISO 20344 to 20347.
HDS is involved in the arrangement of these standards to a considerable extent. HDS has been the representative of the German Standards Committee for DIN for several years in the area of foot and leg protection and, in addition to this, has the chair in the most important working committee in the context of international standardisation (CEN and ISO).
As a result, the interests of the German manufacturers of safety shoes, protective footwear and working shoes are brought to the forefront nationally and throughout the world and implemented in the relevant standards.
his representation of interests is extended to a political level by participation in the committees responsible for personal protective equipment for the European Commission in Brussels.
